Dine N' Dish Review: Thomas O'neil Cellars
A perfect spot for wine and a show.
If you haven’t been to Thomas O’Neil Cellars out by Horn Rapids, you are missing out. Now, before you say, “well it’s just way too far out there”, I live near Hawthorne Elementary in Kennewick and it only took my 15 minutes “door to door”. So with that being said, there is little excuse for anyone saying it’s too far out.
Before this review, I hadn’t visited, and I’m sorry it had taken me this long. Walking up to the front door, I noticed they have a great patio with a good view to the south. Starting in the spring and continuing in the summer months, they offer live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. During the winter months, they keep the music rolling and move it inside their building. They will put a band right with their giant vats of wine, throw up a little soundproofing and let the music flow into the dining area.
Thomas O’Neil Cellars offers a light menu for while you’re enjoying wine and music. While we were there, we enjoyed the Chicken Flatbread, the Caprese Bruschetta, and an awesomely delicious no-bake cheesecake. To go with the food, Thomas O’Neil also poured his Fahrenheit 100 2009 Merlot.
The Caprese Bruschetta was delicious. I mean seriously? How can you go wrong with artisan bread, thick slices of fresh mozzarella, some balsamic vinegar, and a tomato mango salsa? This is a great appetizer to enjoy while sipping on some delicious “grapes” and listening to some great live music.
The Chicken flatbread was the perfect size for two people. This would be a great, light meal to share with someone while sipping on some of their Riesling or Chardonnay.
The no-bake cheese cake was seriously delicious. For such a simple dessert, there was so much flavor packed into it, I would order this over and over.
So here’s the deal, if you haven’t been out to Thomas O’Neil’s, it is very worth the the extra 5 minutes it might take you to get out there. With the weather starting to turn from Summer to Fall, you will find this venue to be fun and a great place to kick back with a little food and some great wine.
