Dine N' Dish Review: Bella Italia
It's like a night in Italy!
Dinner At Bella Italia
I love Italian food. A large portion of my family is Sicilian, so I’ve had my fair share of delicious food through the years so I know when a restaurant does it well. Bella Italia is one of only a few restaurants in the Tri-Cities that does great Italian food.
For this dinner, Bella Italia offered up some amazing dishes:
Caprese is a simple appetizer that packs a ton of flavor. It consisted of four thick slices of fresh mozzarella cheese, four slices of tomato, fresh basil and it was drizzled perfectly with olive oil. Bella Italia has a great list appetizers, but this is the one I always gravitate towards. When you throw a little salt on it, it’s perfect.
I know it’s hard to rave about bread, but the bread at Bella Italia is delicious. When it arrived at the table it was warm, soft (but has a great crust), and delicious. They serve it with a side of garlic infused butter and an olive oil and balsamic vinegar blend.
The salad at Bella Italia is a very simple green salad with slices of tomato, topped with a light vinaigrette. Like the bread, I know it’s hard to rave about something as simple as a salad. What really sets this salad apart is the vinaigrette. It’s light, tangy, and delicious. This is a salad you would find on the dinner table for any Italian family.
Mushroom & Potato Soup
This homemade mushroom and potato soup is very delicious. There aren’t many places that serve a delicious homemade soup. Bella Italia makes the shortlist. This soup has tiny chunks of potato, mushrooms, a little basil, and a chicken based broth that has great flavor. You can get the soup instead of the green salad.
I’m not sure if the raviolis are homemade, but they sure taste like it. The cheese ravioli topped with a little red sauce reminded me of dinner with family. If you want a dish that’s not spicy but full of flavor, I highly recommend the cheese ravioli.
Fettina Panata with Ravioli Florentina al Sugo and Tortellini alla Panna
This entree is one of their dinner combinations on the menu. This is a hearty meal that will not disappoint. I’ve had this meal more than once and it has been consistently delicious every time.
This dish comes with chicken and two pastas. The chicken is lightly pounded to make it nice and thin, dipped in a light breading and then pan fried. The flavor of this chicken isn’t like anything else in the Tri-Cities. Even though it’s fried, it’s very light and full of flavor. It comes with a little slice of lemon you can add to give it a the perfect zing.
One of the pastas is Ravioli Florentina which means it’s stuffed with spinach and cheese and then topped with a red sauce. This ravioli is packed with flavor.
The other pasta is the Tortellini alla Panna. This pasta goodness is tortellini filled with meat and then topped with a creamy white sauce and little slices of prosciutto.
Bella Italia is a hidden treasure for the Tri-Cities. There aren’t many other places where you can go for a cannoli or a refreshing Italian soda. They create excellent meals that are delicious and are of great value. If you haven’t been there, you need to go. If you haven’t been there recently, you need to go again.
